Ever since the introduction of the digital camera, a war has raged within the photographer community. There are those that would claim 35mm film is the one true “professional” media, and digital its casual, amateur counterpart. Conversely as costs go down and quality increases, there is an ever expanding group of professional photographers who shoot only in digital. So what is a consumer to think? Is 35 still the way to go, or is it time to trade in that old junker for a newer, flashier model? It’s time to break each format down and seal this deal, once and for all.

Digital Photography: Amateur?
It is true that there are many digital cameras on the market, and like their 35mm counterparts there is an endless supply of variables that can impact the images each one is capable of producing. Image quality (in terms of depth of field and color contrast) has always been a major concern for those that choose digital and is still one of the most common excuses heard from the opposition. Add to this the fact that finding a digital camera that could match the sheer raw data contained in a photograph on film was both arduous and incredibly expensive, and the 35mm enthusiast has a fairly solid argument.

But fortunately for the consumer, the price of an excellent digital camera has dropped steeply in the last few years, while the “quality for the dollar” has increased dramatically. Canon’s popular “Digital Rebel” line of SLRs has given people an affordable (under $1,000) entry-level camera that produces near professional results. And since Canon isn’t the only camera company in the world, it’s a safe bet consumers can look forward to even better cameras at even lower prices as manufacturers double their efforts to be first in line at the retail counter.

35mm: Antiquated?
These days why use film at all? It’s certainly no secret that film has an unforgiving and often expensive learning curve, and recent trends show professionals leaning heavily on digital for precisely those reasons. After all, when taking pictures at an event like a Super Bowl, would it better to have the potential for thousands of pictures, or just the film you have with you? Sports photographers answered that question by taking over 10,000 digital images in a single Super Bowl game.

However, just as some music enthusiasts claim that everything sounds better on a record, there are still photographers who think that nothing compares to a fresh roll of film. In fact, developing film manually and printing photos in a darkroom is one of the most rewarding and hands on photography experiences one can have. Sure, photos can be powerfully edited using tools like Adobe Photoshop to remove almost any imperfection, but clicking a mouse is very different than the tactile sensations of a darkroom. And of course, having someone else print up a roll of film can take as little as an hour.

And the Winner is…
Neither! Based on the availability of technology and the vast resources devoted to this topic, there’s really no single point that wins this battle. As with many debates, the winner is going to be decided based upon the needs and desires of the individual photographer. Families wanting to shoot and print their pictures on the fly may choose digital due to its instant gratification and convenience, while others may stick to good old film so they can print up doubles and put them into family photo frames. No matter what you choose, in the end, people can still easily print out their pictures so they can hang them on the wall in collage picture frames or display them on a desk or dresser in a special unique picture frame. Thanks to powerful yet affordable innovations in digital and the classic, “do it yourself familiarity of film” the choice is now directly in the hands of the consumer- right where it belongs.

If you’ve made the move from a regular film camera to digital recently, you’ll already be aware that it takes a bit of practice to ensure that half of the photos you take (which seemed perfect in the preview screen) turn out to be unsatisfactory for printing. A good all-round digital camera will be a sensitive and responsive piece of equipment, and we have to be aware of the huge range of variable parameters open to the expert, while making sure we can take and use the techniques we’ll need at our current level.

In fact, many digital cameras are more easily adaptable for beginning work due to their pre-sets. Almost all hand-held digicams have these, and in a sense they cut the corners where you would usually be finding the right F-notch and controlling shutter speed, which are some of the parameters we’ve spoken about before.

Let’s take the portrait, for example. We can simply click our way around to the portrait setting (almost universally a stylized face) on the selector dial, and we’ve got a reduced depth-of-field preset to bring our subject into the centre. With portrait shots, we’re often better handling the lighting ourselves, so as not to dazzle the subject. Try without the flash, if possible. Do a little thinking about background and about what you want your subject to express – is it a formal portrait, or will you have to generate an emotional response? More of this is up to you than it is to the subject, so take some time in preparation first.

For wildlife images and other close work, you’re likely to want to use your camera’s macro function. This is normally a stylized flower symbol and is often separate from the other presets. The reduced aperture (lens diameter) allows for increased depth-of-field, allowing you to get in close on things like insects landed on leaves, minute textures, and the like. You need to be steady with macro images, as the camera has to work that much harder to produce them. With high-activity shots, you’ll want to use your camera’s ‘sport’ preset for high shutter speeds, which will ground your photo and accentuate the motionand a inkjet printer to print off and share your photo.

Printing is often the forgotten element of hobby photography, simply because it’s possible to view your pictures from your PC, upload them to the internet etc., but it’s the final, important part of the magic of photography; a good image isn’t the same thing as a good photograph. A photo-capable printer, a simple USB hub and some high-quality photographic paper can give you the results you need, and make sure you’ll feel excited about printing, framing and enjoying your photographs to the full.

Thinking of buying a digital camera? Well, you must be confused by the bewildering range of models out there. You’re not alone.

In fact, buying a digital camera need not be a difficult task. That’s why I have put together this handy guide for the top selling digital cameras.

A lot of times the most sensible to do is simply purchase what others have purchased before you. With that in mind lets get started.

How Much Do You Want To Pay?
Under $100.00
Under $199.00
Under $299.00
Under $399.00

What features are you interested in?

Would you prefer rechargeable power pack or replaceable batteries?
Having replaceable batteries lets you simply replace the batteries should you need to. This works especially well if you do not have a convenient way to recharge.

Zoom Lens

You’ll definitely want a camera with decent optical zoom. Having an optical zoom (as opposed to digital zoom). The optical zoom actually moves the camera lens to bring the object closer. A digital zoom, however, digitally magnifies the image in the camera’s microchip – resulting in diminished picture quality. Many of the manufacturers’ advertisements talk about digital zoom instead of optical zoom. If your planning on taking quality pictures from a distance select an optical zoom.

How many mega pixels

Normallythe number of megapixels can range around from 2 megapixels to 8 megapixels. How do you decide how many mega pixels you need? As a general rule of thumb, if you’re only going to be taking small pictures 3 megapixels. If you want big prints of your photographs, then you’ll more than likely want to buy 5 megapixel and above camera.

The top selling digital cameras are the digital cameras that usually offer one, or both of these features: a big discount from the regular price or a fantastic feature set for the price.

The Top Eight Selling Digital Cameras For Mid March 2010

I have taken the top 8 selling digital cameras from Amazon and Wal-Mart and have put them together into groups of two omitting the video combination cameras. Four from Amazon Four from Wal-Mart.

Good kitchen outline online means having a outline for your kitchen that provides an efficient and relaxed area in which to prepare meals and do allied tasks. Undergo the kitchen work triangle concept and basic kitchen outline types is a functional starting interest to design a kitchen online that you be partial to.

The kitchen work triangle consists of the distance in the in-between of the sink, refrigerator and range or cooktop. Each one of these areas becomes a focal concern in the kitchen and forms the three points of a triangle with spanking distances amid them. Done correctly, suitable kitchen outline online want transmit you the nearly everyone efficient food preparation area plan in your kitchen.

Whether you’re remodeling an breathing kitchen or building a extra one, an efficient kitchen plan online means that your work triangle minimizes the number of steps the cook must believe amid the three areas during meal preparation and cleanup. The total distance from the sink to the stove to the refrigerator and rear to the sink should be not less than 12 feet total nor added than 27 feet. Every triangle leg should measure amongst 4 and 9 feet in length. The kitchen isles must be at least 42 to 48 inches wide to allow family to pace roughly speaking smoothly and for appliances to be opened by means of ease.

When selecting the floor plan for your kitchen model online, here are basic kitchen layouts to interpret:

* L-Shaped Kitchen – this is the on the whole in style kitchen drawing. It consists of a long leg and a shorter one and this edition of model be able to be used in small and great kitchens. The L-shaped kitchen gives you the ability of having a midpoint island depending on the space going away. In comprehensive, this sketch hope against hope clutch 2 or 3 appliances on one side. The average arrangement is to embrace the refrigerator at one end, the range or cooktop at the other end through the sink sited in the midpoint. This outline of kitchen ordinarily provides good traffic flow.

* Double L-Shaped Kitchen – this kitchen model has a lot of cabinet space and plenty of counter space. This sketch is used in great kitchens by means of two cooks, and it has two or other entering areas, which bottle reason traffic flow problems. To steer clear of a number of of these problems, create two separate working areas on all L of the kitchen so that work flow does not be knowledgeable about interrupted by way of human traffic.

* U-Shaped Kitchen – this kitchen design online outline has three walls instead of two, and the sink more often than not is placed in the middle surface section. The refrigerator and range or cooktop are by and large on the surface walls opposite all new. The U-shaped kitchen propose gives room for ample countertop space, and you clutch three walls for cabinets and appliances. This kitchen plan tends to institute a working triangle that is sincerely efficient.

The working triangle for the U-shaped kitchen ought to be roughly speaking 26 feet or less. The deserted problem through this version of kitchen outline online is that sometimes the two U corners are not used appropriately. Achieve sure you buy the fitting storage items for the corner cabinets created by way of the U outline drawing.

A disposable digital camera is great for those of us who may not have the best printer or latest photo software. This type of digital camera allows you to email photos, create digital slide shows or make online photo greeting cards without the need for any fancy equipment.

The availability, inexpensive price tag, and high quality photos possible with disposable digital cameras may at first seem impossible. Because you can recycle these digital cameras and with a price tag of under $20, they are very popular. A disposable digital camera usually has all the necessary features such as auto flash, indoor/outdoor capability, red eye as well as crop and zoom. Many companies are bringing digital photography to the masses with this disposable digital camera which doesn’t mess around with wires, memory cards or computers. This disposable digital camera should be a great money maker for these manufacturers with the rise in digital photography.

Pure Digital will soon be incorporating an LCD screen allowing you to view your shots as they are being taken with their disposable digital camera. It will be priced at $19. You can snap some above average pics with this inexpensive camera which may make up for the inconvenience of not being able to download them directly to your home PC. Japan is an innovator in the use of recycled cell phone displays for their disposable digital cameras. Right now only the LCD displays are recycled but the company plans to incorporate phone camera lenses in the future.

The amateur, family photographer can now afford a camera with the Pure Digital(R) Imaging platform that easy to get and simple to use. Single-use, recyclable panoramic cameras are convenient for people who appreciate point-and-shoot simplicity. Panoramic cameras are also ideal for many one-time events, such as a vacation to a mountain range or to a city with a great skyline.

This is such a simple camera to take your photos with it makes it a lot more pleasurable. These easy to use cameras do not come with an instruction book because they take great photos with only one touch.

Disposable digital cameras take photos with the same detail as a much more expensive camera so that you can leave your nicer one at home.Overall these are great digital cameras for $20 and sometimes even cheaper.

Choose from among a wide variety of camera bags and select wisely. The best camera bag will safely store not only thousands of dollars of equipment but the priceless memories those pictures represent. The camera bag is the essential accessory for the serious Brisbane wedding photographer , and it’s one you cannot skimp on. Read below to make sure you select the camera bag that best meets your needs and then visit online or brick-and-mortar stores to try camera bags out for yourself.

A great camera bag will feature:

- Specific storage – If your base camera unit is the largest part of Brisbane portrait photography equipment arsenal, you may not need a multitude of pockets designed for sensitive lenses. Instead, seek for a large padded main pocket. Conversely, if you do varieties of different shots and thus need a bagful of lenses, you will want to look for a smaller main pocket and a variety of different-sized lens compartments.

- Security – Whether you choose a hard case or a soft one, you will want to know that your precious equipment is secure. Look for a good lock, or if that is not a concern, make sure that at least all Velcro and zipper closures are strong. Try the bag out and test the strength by swinging the bag around. Go ahead and look ridiculous. Imagine the worst experience the bag will probably encounter. Make sure the camera bag stays strong enough under the pressure, and you will know that your equipment is safe.

- Size – camera bags that offer all the “bells and whistles” are great until they become so huge that they are difficult to tote around. If you have a lot of equipment, you may want to consider a bag on rollers. If you find that you do not need most of the space in the camera bag, get a smaller one. There is no need to carry around a bag bigger than your equipment.

- Style – As a photographer, you are actually a creative person. You catch life as it takes place. Even the Brisbane portrait photographer who takes still portrait pictures somehow captures the happiness of a couple or the brightness in a baby’s eyes. Tote your equipment around in a stylish bag to show to the world that you are artistic. It may not seem like a big priority until you consider what it will look like if you show up at a job with a camera in a threadbare bag. Those who see it will assume that the equipment inside is sub-par as well at once. Get the bag that sends the message that you are a very serious photographer.

Buying a digicam is no easy matter.

Back before electronic cameras were all the range, the technology didn’t change that much, but purchasing a camera was still quite a genuine discomfort. You would need to look at quality, flexibleness, elegance of use, and pliability among masses of other standards to pick what was the best buy that you could make towards buying a digital camera .

But getting a digicam is just that much tougher because there are such a lot of things that you’ve got to keep an eye on. Straight off the technology changes so quick that learning the best way to get an electronic camera is a skill in and of itself. Let us accept it. Who would like to get a 3.1 megapixel digicam when, the day after theyare going to come out with some kind of camera that costs half as much with 2 times the resolution, or better memory. No-one, that is’s definite. IT just doesn’t sound correct irrespective of how you look at it. That’s why, before you go out and make your purchase, you want to actually consult someone that knows the simplest way to get an electronic camera to be certain that you have considered all the most vital details. If you’d like to get an electronic camera, you want to potentially start by performing a little research on your own. Consumer Reports is often a good starting place, as they have made commitments to providing all the relevant information that you might ask for to aid in making an educated call. Except for that, naturally, there are plenty of other good sources for information on getting a good electronic camera. As an example, you can look at trade books. Both photography books and electronics books will be in a position to give you a lot of details on buying a digicam, including product reviews and tech specifications on all the leading brands. You can likely also go into a store and ask all that you would like about the digicams they sell there and get fair answers provided that it’s not just one of those stores that may sell you anything for your cash.

For more information on product reviews you can search on various search engines found on the internet or maybe go through the content of websites like www.product-guides-reviews.com

Technology has overridden many aspects of what would otherwise be considered mundane tasks . Sometimes, this ends up meaning you must change the way you do certain things. When it comes to pictures, the emergence of digital technology has spurred more people into turning photos and slides into images that are digital . This thus goes to explain the growth in the demand for slide scanning services. Older images on slides can be scanned easily and conveniently stored on a DVD or CD keeping them safe .

35 mm slides carry two very important attributes : they often carry precious information and memories , and these slides are quite delicate. Because it is too tough to get the same scene again in a new photo , it is of paramount importance that you make a careful choice of the slide scanning services you are going to use . Go with reputable providers and that have a track record that shows they take extreme care in how they handle slides as they are scanned.

So what are the processes involved during slide scanning ? First, there is a film carrier the slide is put on which the scanner is attached to. There are different sizes of film carriers with some meant for one slide while others can hold multiple slides simultaneously . During scanning this gives some stability to the slides as well as allowing slides to be well aligned during the scanning . The carriers are usually made from metal or plastic .

A light source is a part of each scanner which could be an LED light or a bulb that is fluorescent . Those that use the fluorescent bulbs must be warmed before any scanning. If scanning just after the fluorescent bulb is turned on , the quality of the scanned images will be poor due to the varying levels of light . Yet, the warming up period for fluorescent bulbs can be reduced by using a cold cathode lamp with this bulb . The source of the light usually gets put in a different direction from sensors to ensure that the slide is reached.

When it comes to the equipment, another important aspect is the special sensor which is the engine of this process . The sensor is the part responsible for the critical process of converting light that goes through to a digital format . The film carrier is connected to an electrical stepping motor which enables it to move the slide over the sensor assembly and light source at a pace that is constant . This is when the sensor, that has many light diodes , captures the light waves and converts them into digital signals .

Depending on what you prefer , the slide scanning services provider takes the scanned image and puts them on a computer where it can be saved to USB, CD, or DVD . You could also have the image saved in one of many different formats including Tagged Image File (TIF) and Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) . Another of the strong points of services that provide slide scanning is that high resolution is used for saving images which helps them maintain their quality.

These days cameras are everywhere. Whether it’s a tiny digital you keep in your pocket or a medium format monstrosity you use for a hobby, cameras have become an integral part of human life. With that in mind, let’s take a ride down memory lane and look at where modern photography came from and what it’s meant to our civilization.

One of the most amazing aspects about photography is how much we depend upon them to record our history and tell a story, considering the fact that photography is still relatively new. Just think of how many old family photos you have displayed in your home in antique picture frames or old handmade wood picture frames?

The first permanent photo was created as recently as 1825 using pewter plates and a substance called “bitumen,” and later photographs were printed on glass. Paper didn’t actually become common until around 1888 thanks to the innovations of George Eastman.

In 1901, the Kodak Brownie camera was introduced to the public. This was the first time that photography was so easily accessible to the public, in terms of ease of use and cost. It was during this time that film developing really took off as an industry. It is incredible to think that something like dropping film off to be developed, which we do without a thought, was a foreign and new concept just 100 years ago. The modern SLR camera has only been around for about 80 years and during that timeframe it’s construction hasn’t changed much.

While black and white photography hasn’t change much since the early 1900’s, color film on the other hand, has had a dramatic shift over this period of time. Though color photography had always been a concept chased by early photographers, color film and printing did not become widely accessible until well into the 20th century. Kodak’s “Kodachrome” was introduced around 1935, but it would be a while before color film became the norm. One interesting thing about color film advancement is looking at how black and white film is still in wide use despite the introduction of color photographs. How many people do you know that still have a black and white television? Probably none.

Of course, no discussion of photo-history would be complete without mentioning the digital revolution. This technology, which is part of our everyday lives, has only been used for about 15 years. The first “megapixel” sensor wasn’t even created until around 1986, and now it’s one of the most common technical words in our vocabularly. Though digital photography hasn’t changed how we take pictures (point and shoot), it has had a huge impact in how we share our photographs with the world.

Photography is the way in which we document our lives and display them in picture frames in our homes and offices for all to see. A picture can be as simple as remembering a birthday party or as important as increasing awareness about a conflict on the other side of the world. They help add weight and emotion to the words of reporters as well as preserve our history for generations to come. Every photo we take is a living reminder of our relationships, achievements, strengths and weaknesses.

Weddings are one of the most important and difficult occasions to photograph. Lighting, distance from the subjects and lots of movement are all challenges with wedding photography. So, here are eight wedding photography tips you can use to make sure the wedding photos turn out beautifully framed in the bride’s favorite wedding photo frame.

Bring Lots of Batteries – This is especially true for digital cameras since digital uses far more power than film cameras. And if you’re like many guests with digital cameras who share their pictures during the reception, then that LCD screen will use up even more power. So pack lots of extra batteries.

Bring Extra Memory Cards and Increase the Resolution – You never know which pictures will end up being the ones the bride wants to frame in a large picture frame or make prints of for the photo album, so be sure that your camera is set to medium or better yet, high resolution. Extra memory cards will ensure you don’t run out of space.

Look for the Unexpected Moments – In addition to all of the traditional moments you need to take like the bride and groom getting ready, exchange of vows, the first kiss, there will always be the unexpected “Kodak moments” that you want to capture. Along with all the traditional moments that you don’t want to miss: the bride (or groom) getting ready, the exchange of vows, the first kiss, the cake cutting ceremony and so on, there are bound to be many unexpected “Kodak moments.” Watch the children too as they will often provide many comical and precious moments to remember! And don’t forget to honor the parents of both the bride and groom by taking their pictures as they’ll certainly want to display many of them in picture frames. There will be much emotion on this joyous day to capture with your camera.

Increase the ISO – If you have a film camera, use a higher speed film, such as 400, but if you have a digital camera like most will, increase the camera’s ISO, that is its sensitivity to light. Try increasing just to 200 or 400. Use digital noise removing software if needed. The higher ISO can brighten otherwise underexposed pictures better than a compact’s built in flash.

Photo Edit Out the Red Eye – Most wedding photos are taken from too far away for the camera’s red eye reduction to work, but you can remove the red eye by using photo editing software like Photoshop or Picasa.

Save the Flash for the Most Important Pictures – Since it can take a while for the flash to recharge- plan ahead. Unless a “can’t miss” spontaneous photo opportunity comes up, save the flash for moments you most want to have pictures of, like the bride and groom cutting the cake, kissing after their vows, their first dance, etc.

Make Use of Optical Zoom or Your Feet – For those far away photos, use the optical zoom (not digital zoom if you can). If your camera doesn’t have an optical zoom, it’s best to simply move closer to the subject.

Don’t Let Shutter Lag Ruin your Pictures – Although this isn’t a problem with film, if you’re taking photos with a digital camera be prepared to compensate for the shutter lag. Some cameras shoot much faster (or slower) than others, so if you haven’t done so yet, get acquainted with yours before the wedding. When taking action pictures like dancing at the reception, take them the same way as you would at a sporting event. Try to guess what’s going to happen next and point the camera in that direction and press the shutter half way down. Be ready to take lots of pictures where there’s people in motion, so that you end up with several worthy of framing. And on such an important occasion, it’s a good idea to take several of the still shots as well.

Hopefully these 8 wedding photo tips will help you make the most out of your next wedding and give the bride and groom pictures they love displaying. Until then, keep practicing and have fun learning photography!
